Casino Blackjack Genius Just Wants to Get Back in the Game David Morse, 53, has made
thousands of dollars playing casino blackjack. How does he beat
the casinos, time and time again? Morse is a card counter who
also admits to peeking at cards when the dealer deals them. This casino blackjack maven has been banned from his favorite game by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. Morse, however, has hired an Atlantic City lawyer to help him fight the charges. He just wants, he says, to be allowed to play casino blackjack. Morse began card- counting when he was a college student at the University of Rhode Island, and bored with writing a paper. He began to experiment with card counting methods in his dorm room. A bit later, he picked up the casino blackjack cheater’s bible, "Beat the Dealer," by Edward
O. Thorp, a mathematician. The book explains how to track high
and low- value cards, in a way that gives the player a slight
advantage over the casino.
